Anyone getting in to INK lately?

Have they closed the back doors?

My submissions to Canada, Anzwers and Hotbot used to show up in INK within a week or so. Now it's been over two weeks since my last submissions and nothing has shown up in the index (yet).

Is anyone aware of any major changes with the submission process other than the dreaded 'pay for view' program?

Wish there was better news to report - but not from me anyway. Having the save problem you are. Wish they would do something - anything - this sitting on hold is getting...

No problem with submissions at all, just the same for me as always although I no longer submit to all three/four at the "same" time.

The problem is with rank, completely buried on all submissions and Ink is not adding unless the pages are directly submitted.

Been trying to work the "webmap" angle by not directly submitting, using sites that are in the permanent dB to link to the target domain, no joy at all.

No problems getting in but have the same problem as NFFC. No luck getting great listings.. I hope this gets better soon.

I submitted a friends web site which had been dropped from Ink about 3 weeks ago. It appeared two days later and has remained (so far) and the rankings are quite good.

Go figure???

I've been low keying ink for awhile too. I've not submitted to them in a couple of weeks. Last month was so bad that I just felt it wasn't worth the time.

The old pages/sites we have in the core are doing well and I go back to click on all the DH hits every day. Those continue to produce.

I submitted to Canada.com about three weeks ago. I haven't really had time to check it on the other Ink sites because I wanted to see what would happen in Canada. I haven't had any luck with my own site there ... so was using this site as a litmus test.

I submitted my own site again yesterday almost a month after being dropped. I could sure use more traffic. Will let you know what happens with both.

My friends' site is showing in the top 10 in most of her important key phrases. I'm not holding my breath though. Could be gone anytime.

I just did a quick search of the web and was surprised to see that Heather's site has been picked up by Hot Bot. (I didn't resubmit there!)

Could be good news but they could be toying with me.

She is listed on NBCi, Google, Hot Bot, Canada.com, Alta Vista, Go.com, Aol, About, MSN, Netscape, ODp & Fast.

Not on GoTo, Excite, LookSmart, Lycos (I resubmitted today), Direct Hit or Webcrawler.

I am just going to watch and see without submitting it anywhere else. Will let you know if it pops up anywhere.

The results on Google, NBCi, Hot Bot, Fast, and Alta Vista are pretty darned good. Didn't really go in depth on most though.

We are still having absolutely no luck with site submissions, yet keeping sites listed. I have tried every way I know to get sites into the directory, brand new sites, adult sites, non-adult related sites - you name it, nothing gets into ink no matter where, how or when we submit them. <pout> The frustration is starting to get to me I think. Still following all the rules and have not resulted in spamming, so any ideas are welcome.

I know you have had this problem for a long time, it must be time to look at the things that haven't changed since your problems started.

If it were me I'd be looking at moving the sites to fresh IP's, making sure that submissions have not all been from the same IP [dial-up] and finally at the servers structure.

If it is a shared server are you able to contact any of the other sites to see if they are having problems?

For a quick check try sticking a page on a free host [i.e. not your IP] and see if that gets indexed.

I am still having the same problem as Jilly. It is now over three weeks since I resubmitted my pages that had been dumped by INK and nothing has shown up. Previously (prior to about Sept 20) submissions to Canada, Hotbot and Anzwers would show up within a week or so. They have obviously changed something. I have heard in another thread that it has something to do with their XXX filters but I can't imagine how that would effect my GP sites.

Any suggestions, anyone ?

We've missed you. Mark's advice is solid. Some months ago you and I talked about shared IP's. (a server may state they are not routing through one IP when in fact they are) Also a block of IP's can be banned - meaning you're paying for someone elses mistake.

For what it's worth - we are concentrating on Google and others until INK opens the door again.

The XXX thing hasn't been confirmed by anyone that I know of as yet. Also, it would be very easy for INK to filter for XXX and leave the other sites untouched (except for cloaked -G- pages that deliver to XXX sites (not very productive though)

Well, somethings going on. I've noticed a few more entries with dates beyond the July freeze. Most have been Sept/Oct dates.

Could we be seeing new pages/sites reappearing?

Though not a new site, I have one large site with pages indexed from 10/09 - 10/19. Weighing in at 4000 pages, it's large, but not that large. Doesn't ten days seem an unusually long period?

I had to step back a bit because things were becoming too frustrating. So I've been pretty much outta the loop where all of this is concerned.

We moved our server to a different colocation and the block of IP's changed. This was about a month ago and we've still had no luck getting anything into Inktomi. Totally bizarre, I tell ya.

I've got to get back into the loop or I'll be off line completely if things slow down anymore. I'm all ears (or eyes as the case may be)!

I think you need to have a close look at the server setup it seems to be the only thing that hasn't changed.

Try viewing the sites through Brett's Sim Spider [searchengineworld.com] as a starting point.

Are you NT or nix?

We're unix based, used to be NT and we were NT when the problems began some time ago. So... now we're at a new unix server <ours, btw, we only colocate the box> brand new IP's and sites that should comply at least to my knowledge. We do have some sites in Ink but they've been there for a long time and our rankings stink. Nothing new is getting in not even the NEW new sites. I'm willing to try just about anything to get listed, as long as it's basically above board.
