HotBot and Direct Hit

Morning, all. Did anyone else notice that the top ten Hotbot results no longer seem to be supplied by Direct Hit?

Don't mind me. I just went back and rechecked HotBot and, Lo and Behold, the Direct Hit results were there. (I swear I didn't make it up - I think I just need a vacation...)

Oh, don't chastize yourself. They have turned on and off Direct Hit before. I think they take fresh unfiltered click through samples from time to time.

Did anyone notice that Hotbot is returning only DMOZ results. DirectHits has been gone since this AM. Was still there at 3AM and gone at 6AM and has not returned as of 7PM. It was a good ride but looks like the horse has died.

You're right...I checked various keywords and Direct Hit is nowhere to be found...Got results from DMOZ, Inktomi, and "Lexiquest????"... But NO DH...

Does anyone know what's up??

Not sure where you are hitting Hotbot from, but the "default" start page search still returns DH listing for positions 1-10 on keywords that have at least 10 DH listings, and a link to DH for keywords that have less than 10 DH listings....

redzone, the results were the return from WPG and a on-site search. I noticed they came back, DH the following day. HotB was only returning Lycos (DMOZ) results for a day and half. I'm wondering if this may be a precurser to a complete switch to the Lycos format.

Welcome to the WmW boards and INKTOMI. As with most things relating to the produsts you mentioned, only time will tell. Sorry for the open-ended answer, but I've gone from trying to figure it out to "a" wait and see what happens. I get more sleep that way and the results are the same...
