Another question please.

I have a list from my usage statistics and that says "top 30 of 332 total referrers.

I take it those are sites that are referring traffic to me, is that correct? I am speicially looking to see if google has hit my site and I do see something that says "http//www.google.com/search

is that it?

Oh, one more thing, what about a referrer that lists as "http;//www.and then the name of my site.com

How did those people get there?

I guess they are internal referrers :)

That comes from users navigating your site. If a user clicks a link from a page on yoour site, that page is the referrer for the next page.

What if they click the home page? I seem to have many hits just on the homepage. .

Also, is there a difference between that and a referrer known as direct request? Or is that the same thing?

A direct request is one where the user actually entered the URL (or used a bookmark). No referrer involved - they went straight to the page of interest.

You have high number of hits from the home page because your home page is probably coming up in the serps alot.

Also, users are likely to return to your home page often while navigating your site.
