Launched a new site last week- content rich, consistent meta tages and titles so think it should rank well with google. Submitted site to google and to various relevant directories and websites which have positive google ranking.
Within 48 hrs google had spidered site- think that this has come via one of the directory listings.
Am now listed on google, but with a zero ranking. Does this mean that:
A. Google has found my site, but for whatever reason does not like it.
B. Because google has only found site through one link on another site, it has not allocated any ranking. I can expect ranking to increase over time as more links are spidered and as google spiders site directly itself.
C. Something else!
Help! Should I sit tight with site and wait for ranking to increase, or have I obviously made a fundamental error and need to rethink site.
lazza,
It's been a while i think since google last updated PageRank and backlinks. My site's been online and has contained about 4,000 words of content for about 4 months but is really taking its time to show a PR.
I have at least 20 backlinks that i know of, 7 of which have a PR4+
It should be time to update the PR soon I think.
Only thing I'd like to add to the previous replies is not to put too much emphasis on PageRank. It's just one factor (of 100+) that G uses in its algorithm, and there are loads and loads of search queries where sites with lower PR are listed above sites with higher PR.
