Hey,

When i try to search from msn I get this;

"We are seeing an increased volume of traffic by some malware software. In order to protect our customers from damage from that malware, we are blocking your query. A few legitimate queries may get flagged, and for that we apologize. Please be assured that we are hard at work on this problem and hope to get it resolved even better as soon as possible.
If you are using phpBB, please check out the phpBB downloads site [phpbb.com...] and make sure you are not vulnerable.
- MSN Search Team"

Has anybody else had this? Are they saying that my comp has malware?

No, they aren't saying that your computer has malware.
What they are saying is that some types of malware do automated searches for certain vunerable sites e.g. those using older versions of phpBB.
To stop these automated queries they have flagged certain terms. So you must have done a search for terms which were flagged due them being abused by malware and hence you got that messsage.

Hi,

I am getting exactly the same message if I try a search from my Thinkpad while from my desktop the same search term produces a perfect result.

Having a closer look, it actually only affects IE 6.

I have firefox and IE on my desktop and while it works in firefox, it does not work on IE.

I'll have a look in hte knoweldgebase to see if this is a known issue with any of the updates, but it's not the IE SP2 update as one machine is updated and the other is not.

Would this then mean that IE is the delivery vehicle used by these malware programs or that there is a vulnerability in IE that firefox don't have?

the mind boggles,
Jon
