On a resent inspection of my industries serps on MSN it would seem there are a number of smaller sites eg. less than 1000 pages, that come up high ranking in MSN.
After looking at other search engines results it would seem there are many more smaller sites results on MSN than on others.
Comments?
MSN seems to want an internet where every page is on its own subdomain.
What the internet should be is a random selection of well designed, easy to use, high quality information based sites. Size is not everything.

OK if you are looking for deep content to be top ranking ... what happens when someone produces a niche site of 20 pages with good information on the subject matter of you 1 measly page? I personally get all pages indexed both on large sites and small. (11 in all)

Hmm interesting. I will have to disagree though. That not MSN at all imo. If you were to look in the top ranking of "another search engine" starts with G, for very hi money keywords, London hotels is a good one, I think you will find cross linking of many many sub domains here. You are not thinking of MSN.
With production of smaller sites you have got a real pain if some nightmare industry monster site takes up your subject matter. I feel that if a site is set up for a specific subject it should be better ranked that one page.
Eg monster travel site sets up a page that gives detail of a bed and breakfast establishment.
Bed and breakfast establishment sets up site of 5 pages giving details of 1) who they are 2)what they are 3) how much it costs to stay 4) what rooms look like and 5) what the phone number is.
Which site in your mind deserves to be top when looking for information. Your love of monster sites says not the B&B's own page. I disagree.
