msn scraping

are we now allowed to scrape msn

Does msn allow webmasters to scrape just about 10 listings from their search results? I know google dosent, but heard from many that msn dosent mind.. Does anyone agree?

How can they disallow it? Once the page is downloaded you can scrape away what's to stop you? Google will stop automated scraping at 500 pages or so and warn you that you have a virus but that's hardly disallowing...

BUT!

If you are posting the scraped results online as-is, I think that will get you banned, though as you say you may get away with 10 results. If you edit the results then you are creating new content with it, the more you edit the less likely it will get you banned.

Then the scraping simply becomes one step in your editing process--if you are using the material for genuine purposes. I think it would depend on what you are scraping and why.

If it's just made-for-adsense you'll probably be banned eventually as they get more sophisticated in identifying these.
