Hi, I have redone my site and removed loads of rubbish pages, problem I think is that MSN is still checking for the pages.

googlebot is showing the new page count whilst MSN bot is still showing 1000+pages which have been deleted.

Can I make MSN bot just index the new stuff?

cheers

One thing to note is that MSN site search count has been behaving strangely recently.

if you do a site: search, the initial number seems to nearly always be way to high. However, if you click through to the last results page, the number suddenly drops and then stays at the lower number for subsequent searches. Pretty weird, but I assume will be fixed at some point.

In general though, you'll need to give search engines some time to realise the pages have gone forever (if they return a 404 error).

I have also found that when I would enter site:www.domainname.com, it would give me a larger number on the first page, then, when I went to the second page of results it would have decreased! Strange behaviour!

Mayeb its some sort of indication that they know your page is there, but haven't indexed it fully yet!

Hope they get it sorted soon.
