So about two years ago when I was still freelancing I used to have a personal website with my name as the domain (firstnamelastname.com). Obviously this one ranked #1 for my name, but when I started doing inhouse work I didn't want the site to show for my name anymore...so I did what everyone in their right mind would do and forwarded it to German heavy metal legends Running Wild's homepage. The result on Google was first that the description was removed from the search result, then the domain was removed from the index all together (searching for the original domain turns up nothing but stats on it from other websites).

The interesting thing is that I just "Binged" myself for the first time (as far as I can remember) and in second place Bing is showing my domain, but with Running Wild's title and description, and when you click the listing you obviously get directed to Running Wild's domain (victory!).

Maybe this is old/trivial news to some, but I thought it was interesting....after 301ing my domain and giving it time

- Google removed it from the index (prob due to being redundant)
- Bing still shows my domain for it's primary keyword, but is using the title and description of the site the domain is forwarding to

So in very loose terms, Google is treating it as a 301, and Bing is treating it as a 302.
