Live Search Webmaster Center Gains Crawl Error and Backlinks Reports [blogs.msdn.com]
In an effort to improve upon those goals, today we have launched a significant update to our Webmaster Center and brought the Center out of Beta! This update includes several new features that provide webmasters more information about how Live Search is crawling and indexing their sites, as well as a few features to make the data more actionable.

The tools are a little spartan compared to what Google offers.

The only surprise was when Live claimed my site had 631,000 backlinks.

That's about 3.5x more than Yahoo claims, hmmmm....

It's a great step , but I question who will use it if only a small % of search is performed on Live. Webmaster's time is stretched as it is.

Live.com is a fiasco. Their forum is a joke and their tools are nothing more than queries you can run on their search site.

They think our site has 12,000 pages (we have 1,200). When asked why we don't even rank for our own site's name (which is not a common term) they tell me it's the competition.

I've heard that when the folks at Google want a good laugh they switch to Live.com

Excellent. Whether or not I use Live.com makes no difference - these are more metrics and statistics we can use

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
