We have been seeing some wild swings in MSN search lately, anyone seeing an update in rankings?

I am seeing some wild swings in our sector today.

I thought they had resolved the blogspot problem, but today I see several junk pages ranking well, including the #1 spot for the phrase I am monitoring.

I would venture to say they are playing with the algo abit, I am seeing some swings as well for blog spam.

not really , msn is not updatingtheir index at all, their current results for a month now sucks, and no updates are seen

I almost complete lost all my MSN rankings as of a 10 days ago or so. Anyone know of any algo changes or anything?

On MSN for the single most common search term for our product, we are now in spots 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 9 :)

I've seen this pattern before, complained to MSN and they must have put a manual fix in place because after two months or so it was right back to where it started.

Don't you think its just a complete waste of a resource?

I cant believe that a company the size of microsoft can produce such a pile of cr@p when it comes to a search engine and do NOTHING about even trying to improve it.

I think they should admit they have no interest in search, no interest in trying to improve on it and just bin the entire project and put it down to a bad experience.

I used msn search far more when it was powered by Yahoo at least it worked back then and provided meaningful results

That's the rub, MS realizes the importance of search and is still playing catch-up. If anything they are going to scrap the current effort and launch something new. I don't expect to see updates on Live.com like we do on Yahoo, I expect to see a whole new approach.

I don't even use MSN to search their own MSDN library anymore. Yahoo is better at it.
