I heard that MSN (even AV) uses Yahoo Databases but then how is this explained.

His site ranks
#1 - Google
#1 - Yahoo
#1 - AV
Banned - MSN (even with site: operator I am not getting any listing).

What can be the reasons? And what should he do?

Thanks,
AjiNIMC

(According to my friend, Yahoo had banned his site for some stuff a year back but after correcting the pages, mainly duplicate content, now he is back everywhere except MSN, This is happening for last 6 months only).

Not true. MSN hasn't used Yahoo results since January 2005.

MSN/Live.com right now is so out of whack with reality so it is not even funny anymore.
Not sure what they want to do but if they continue on this path they will disappear as a search engine totally.
Why would a site with #1 ranking in other SE's not even show up in MSN? MSN must have changed their algo and bans sites right and left for some very odd reason, a reason that no other SE would even consider.
I have sites that have been banned (see my many posts about that!) and there is no reason whatsoever that I can find, even after have been told about "illigitimate on-page something....". None of the sites are identical and whatever was on these sites that was OK in December is now not allowed by MSN and I am sure this is what happened to all banned sites. We have something common on our sites that MSN implemeted in their algo that automatically banned sites.
I have one site that has been banned. It's got about 7-8 pages and it has abo#*$!ely original content except for an article from a lawyer. No spamming, no keyword stuffing, no external linking but to a few goverment sites, no link exchange. Banks from all over the world, US Air Force and other military institutions are using it every day for information and MSN bans it?
If they are trying to get rid of spam this way then they need to rethink what they are doing! Buying Vista? Not no but hell no! If this is the way they program over at Microsoft, who want's their products?

Yes, even I am not sure. Is there a way we can check the reason for ban? Or do we have a form for re-inclusion request? I am also ready to check with the webmaster guidelines for MSN if there is any.

I hardly care but I am more curious about it.

Thanks,

To the best of my knowledge, there is nothing you can do. Nor is it likely for you to be able to figure out why this is happening. Many of us that have one or more sites in this position have pretty much given up -- sites that have been on the web for over one year, are doing ok in other engines, have no black hat SEO stuff, and yet cannot even get a single listing at LIVE when using site:domainname.com.

Short of consulting with a psychic, there is no where else to turn, so don't get overly focused on this. If your site is well designed and you are doing OK everywhere else, then let it go from your thoughts. Maybe someday we'll all wake up to magically find MSN back on track again. Until then, there are plenty other things to do.
