What's the delay in indexing new pages

Several posts on this forum including myself are waiting for new pages to be indexed...
Pre new Algo (August 2006) it only took a few weeks...now it's taking months.
A few of my new pages (created in early September) have just started to show up. Why the delay these days and is this going to be the norm?
My site is being crawled daily but still the delay.

and I am waiting for them to fix their 301 problems so my pages will start showing up again! Thousands of pages removed and the ones that are still there has been 301'nd.

MSN is up to something really bad these days and I can't figure out what is wrong :(
