I tried searching using Live Search at MSN for an article about having old links removed from MSN's search results but have been unsuccessful. Does anyone know how this is accomplished?

I probably should have thought about this before I went and bought them their actual, unhyphenated domain and put up a new site for them but I failed to and now I feel like a jackass.

The old domain was www.marios-imports.com and the new domain is www.mariosimports.com.

Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Sean

301 from the old domain to the new, and be sure to have a useful 404 - visitors will normally not even be aware that the URL is not quite the same.

As the new site gets established, its place in the serps will begin to rise, while the old results will disappear eventually.

Wow, that was fast but I fear that I should have been more explicit: I have NO ACCESS to the old domain or site and it has been taken down by the, IMHO, unethical former hosting/site building ripoff company.

It was some crazy templated, reused content site that they were charging these poor people $130/month to "host" and "maintain".

Barring a redirect, which, based on my understanding of them, is NOT available to me, are there means at MSN/Live Search itself? I seem to recall such a thing at Google, at least.

Thanks again for pitching in on this. Bye, Sean

Ah! That rather changes things :)

Sorry, I've never heard of such a service; hopefully someone else has.

And maybe someone knows how long the old results are likely to linger; will it be until their new site is fully spidered, or longer?

Meantime, you just have to get your pages above the 'dead ones' ...

Good Luck, and sorry I couldn't be more help.
