We think it is very important to separate out the advertising side of the business from the algorithmic search side of the business. Both have the same goal which is to answer user’s questions; however, one has been paid for so we will always call out this distinction. The advertising on [beta.search.msn.com...] are ads from Overture and from Microsoft’s own Sponsored Sites program. So for advertisers there will be no change. The ads that you purchase on Overture will continue to be syndicated to MSN Search.

Maybe everyone doesn't watch MSNdude quite as closely as GG yet, or maybe I just haven't kept up on the news on this one. With all the hoopla around the new beta MSN search...my big question is...When will the paid search come out?
Looks like this has been recently discussed [webmasterworld.com], but I'd like to see any other speculation on when MSN will start sliding in their own paid search listings. IMHO, search is good, but paid search is where the money is...this has to be putting it on top of M$'s mind.
MSNdude mentions
...from Microsoft’s own Sponsored Sites program.
Does this pique anyone else's interest?
I imagine your not going to see anything of the sort (yet) for at least a year and as long as they are cleary marked and out of the main serps it should work well.
They did, around 2 years ago, suddenly place paying OV ads at the top of the serps knocking decent sites out in favour of paid listings.
Obviously this didnt work - lesson there Google.
Ive also seen MSN over the last 4 years or so attempt a variety of 'models' (to coin an awful phrase) and its interesting that they appear to be snapping at Googles heels in terms of layout and general theme.
Its going to be good providing they dont get google err im mean greedy.
75k minimum spend. Ouch for the little guys.
MSNuk is still Overture as such
MSN will be using Overture until the end of 2005 I think?
I know the top 3 sponsored results appear on the current MSN but as far as I am aware there is no requirement for a minimum annual spend to be featured there.
Currently, in order to feature at the top you have to be one of the top 3 bids on the search phrase entered.
