I can connect my OSX computer to my 2003 server using AppleTalk but not using IP. The 2003 server is a domain controller. The error reported is -5000

Hi pameal,

Welcome to the board.

I believe 2003 Server encrypts all traffic by default. If you set it to a domain controller, you must de-activate "always secured connection" policy in the "domain security policy" gizmo.

Go to administrative tools/domain controller security policy/security settings/local policies/security options. You then need to set the "Microsoft network server": digitally sign communications' to "0".

Otherwise the bugger will reset to default every day.

Unfortunatly, I dont know of any security settings specific to local trafic. Maybe some Microsoft certified geeks could help. If those security settings cause some problems, some pretty sharp people can help in the Microsoft forum [webmasterworld.com].
