Short of pumping a keyword into Google and then counting down until I find my site. Is there any legitimate way (i.e. one that won't get me banned) to find out how a site or page is doing on a particular keyword.

I'm primarily interested in Google, but I'm also interested in finding out what's up with Alta Vista. First, it took three months to get in, and then, keywords in which I rank in the top ten of Google, I can't even find in Alta Vista.

Thanks

Hi, for google you can manually add &num=100 at address bar to display 100 results by page, then look for your url with <ctrl-F>.
It works if your site are less than 1000.

... or click on the preferences in Google and set your pages to 100 in the drop down box.
