I've posted something similar but this is about popularity...

I wonder if using Phrases as keywords, is a good or bad idea?
instead: blue, widgets, small,

small blue widgets, widgets, medium widgets,

And about spelling should I use key, key1, key3,
or key,key1,key3, or is it the same thing?

DO you use that? Is it effective?
Does keywords really matter?

Does keywords really matter?

keywords are SEM

keyword phrases are the key to relevance and conversions.

a single keyword lacks context relative to understanding the intentions of the user. Widgets - is it blue, do you want to buy, are you looking for info, etc. phrases provide context and insight into the wants of the searcher.

People are lot more saavy about spam than you may think. I, as well as others I know, don't click on search engine results containing title tags that read "keyword, keyword-again."

It looks ugly. It looks spammy. It looks useless. In my experience, it is useless. Why? Because there's 80% effort put into getting into the top 10, and maybe 20% (max) at giving me the information/content/product I want.

It's not enough to get into the top 10. Not by a longshot. Concentrate on creating a clickable title. Phrases go a long way.

About last comment, I'm not talking about spammy titles, like mykey, otherkey, superkey here too - and final key!

This is about keyowords.
You have to enter keywords, there's nothing to do with spam there.

But do you use relevant phrases as keyowords or not?
Case:

You sell shoes>

meta tag keywords: do you use>
shoes, sport, itialian, or

sport shoes, italian shoes,

?

But do you use relevant phrases as keywords?

Absolutely, 100%. You're on the right track. Plus, pay attention to making the phrase appealing, i.e. clickable.

"If you are talking about the meta "keywords," you do not have do to anything. In fact, forget the meta "keywords."

What's important is having a keyword rich phrase that makes people want to click. Then, having the keyword phrase in H1, description, or both. Then, having keyword phrase in the first sentence of the first paragraph of the page.

For relevance, see this thread:

Hope that helps, WFN :)
