Overusing Keywords - Penalities

Ok.. I have had some success in the past targeting 2 or 3 good keywords, and creating an "informational" keyword rich 'article' about the phrase(s).

Let me as you this...
What would happen if you compiled a list for "research" purposes, and listed the top XX keywords that you're trying to target.

I'm not sure where the line is drawn.
But I really was just wondering about that b/c there are hundreds of 'lesser searched for' keywords.

Would this be something that I would be penalized for?
If so, would the penalty go against just those pages w/ too many keywords?

PS. I've been scouring around for a good script, program, or information on a "Random Sentence Generator" w/ keyword rich. I've done ALOT of searches on here, but I didnt find any concrete information.

My belief is that Google has a threshold for keywords, above that threshhold they may or may not penalize depending upon several factors that I don't want to get into.

Random sentence generators are a BAD idea. Sure, you're creating lots of content, but all it takes is one spam report and you're gone.

I'd spend the time writing good content. Get an intern ;)

Funny question. Not sure if the question is 'Is this spam?' or 'I know it is spam, but will I get away with it for a little while until Google's algorithm's catch up?'. Hope that didn't come across as unfriendly; I'm just in a funny mood right now. If you want some opinions from people with more expertise, you could try ask if any of the folk who hang around the 'Google Toolbar', 'Search Engine Promotion' and 'Keyword Discussion' forums could shed any light.

A listing of keywords, yes, that's spam.

A few paragraphs of keyword related content, no, that's not spam.

There is a thin line between good and evil. The idea is to either be so good that no one can contest you or to be so close to evil that Google will look at you and decide not to pull you. I would recommend being cleaner than a preacher's sheets.

But it's not at the top of the page, it is towards the bottom, so position may play a role as well.
