Keyword Research and Relaunch

Hello,
I am a beginner in SEO and have a question related to website relaunches:
What makes more sense: First start a keyword research and then build a page structure from the results, or do I first build the page structure and then research my keywords per page?
Personally, I would say variant 1, but I am very grateful for expert opinions.

Visitors don't care about your keyword research, they want you to satisfy their keyword searches. Most want an expert answer to a specific query, some want buying advice, others want to be entertained or keep up on current events.

It doesn't matter how much keyword research you do if your content reads like "Everyone knows that widgets are important, they can be very helpful etc". Everyone does not know that, important to who? helpful how?

You do keyword research to learn what else people are interested in about your main topic. You do keyword research to learn if there is a ready audience searching for that sub-topic. You do keyword research to find out if a competitor is hugely authoritative meaning your newer site won't likely rank higher than them, yet. You do it to find holes in your existing content coverage.

Hint: if a competitor has locked up a specific keyword related to your main topic you still need to write about it, just don't put as much priority on it until you too have some authority.

So my best advice before a relaunch is check the content first. Make sure it will please visitors and answer all their questions and ye will be rewarded.

If you're brand new to websites start by writing about something that interests you. If you choose to outsource the content then find experts about the topic who are also engaging writers. SEO covers so many areas and is always evolving so don't expect to become #1 with better SEO alone, focus on the content and the rest will follow.

Welcome to WW.

When it comes to website relaunches, doing keyword research first and then building your page structure from the results is a good approach.

Considering a good page ranks for thousands of keywords, many of which aren't even on the page, I'm pretty sure that's not true anymore.

Topic research > keyword research

@Askinator ... Welcome to Webmasterworld!

Keyword research (before the article) is time expended before the work begins. The WORK is the article/page/site. Write that in natural language, picking your education level to target audience. In reality 6th-12th grade density will give greater results than post grad/rocket science.

Your keywords are IN your product, they should never BE your product.

G knows the difference, the other SEs as well.

Write for the user FIRST, create a comfortable UI/Presentation, and go from there.

These days most folks can tell when they are getting "scammed" simply by the "keywords" and will bounce before anything else can happen. THIN content (keywords) is obvious---no matter how many words are on the page (>2k to 2m).

Perhaps this is the right approach, I use it myself:
1 write the body of the article for the user;
2 evenly and organically enter the keys;
3 add the article to the unused keys;
4 I write the introduction and conclusion for the main keys.
