Keyword Meta Tags...

Commas or no commas?

Hi,

While reading the latest issue of .net magazine, there was an article on SEO. The only bit that was new to me was where some guy said that if you left out commas in the keywords meta tag, search engines would 'make their own minds up' on the best string and word combinations to use. Wouldn't search engines look at this as on big long 20-word string to try and match?

Before I go edit my meta tags, I'm just wondering if it's going to be worth my while...?

Steve.

very few search engines use meta tags now, most concentrate on page content. Im my opinion they are still worth the effort though. The layout I use is keyword1,keyword2 with a comma but no space.

Inktomi needs commas around core phrases - the rest of the SEs don't care or don't use the keyword tag. Even Inktomi ranks keyword tags as one of the least important things you should consider doing see what they say at their tips page [inktomi.com].
