Targetting keywords in closely related languages

... words with slightly different spellings...

I know that there are problems with different spellings of the same words in american and british english. We have some problems in the scandinavian languages too. As a danish webmaster I would love to target on swedish and norwegian spellings of certain keywords. That would tripple my market for them. But I don't know how to do it.

Any ideas?

Build separate web sites with a different look and somewhat different content and structure to avoid being nailed for spam. If you can actually triple your sales by adding to that target market ... then its worth doing.

Host them on different servers too.

Thanks. But there is one problem: My websites are not commercial, so I would prefer an easier way.

I have seen several sites with language options. I have no idea how you would go about doing it (technically speaking), but I am sure someone here can help.

I don't see why you would need to host them on different servers or even use different domains. Why not target that content specifically for that country and set up the content in subdomains under the original domain?

Surely new, unique, content targeted at people in specific countries would not be considered spam.
