I am working for a client in the field of disaster restoration. They go into houses after a house has had a fire or flood and fix it up.

I first went into the Google External Keyword Tool (GEKT) to get ideas for appropriate keywords. Several keywords have tens of thousands of searches per month.

Yet, when I tried to get a little local by using the state or city I get literally almost nothing. It is not making sense. If there are several million people in this state and many of the keywords (without state or city info) have tens of thousands of searches per month. Shouldn't there be more searches.

Everything is coming up "not enough data" Everything. Anybody have any idea what I am doing wrong maybe?

I have 49 search terms (I had "use synonyms" unchecked and "do not show ideas for new keywords" checked). So this is just my list. Plenty of searches without a city or state next to it. Many terms in the 250,000 searches range and more in the 10,000 to 50,000 range. But literally almost nothing when I put in a city or state. Am I doing something wrong. People in these places must be searching.

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

PS - It looked like the forum for local search was only for the part of local search results, which this is not.

Welcome to the forums. I guess you're not here in L.A. or you would have said fires and earthquakes. ;)

Is this for organic search or Adwords? And how much text do you have on your pages?
