Need your help about keywords relevant to my site

I am in charge of a website of [country widgets] retail,which is usually called online shop, because we sell [widgets] like prducts, i make the keyword of the site are: [nationality widgets],[country widgets],but in my GOOGLE administrator tool, i find the keyword i put as the webiste keywords don't give me a lot traffic,in stead some words i don't care give me more traffic,my question is if i change the keywords does it affect the ranking in google and records in the google serp? thanks!

Hi liny.

There are a few possibilities here:

- The keywords you've chosen are not the most popular (try putting them into the Adwords Keyword Tool)

- Your website does not rank well for the words, so you only pick up traffic for other keywords (review your web page text, and make sure you have relevant links to your site)

If you've chosen the "wrong" keywords, then changing them will certainly affect Google traffic - but if you pick the "right" words (and make the right changes), then this should be a positive thing.
