Optimum Characters

------------------------------------------------------------
Greetings,
What is considered the 0ptimum amount of Characters in the Title of your document.
Should "meta name="description" content" Basically mirror your title?
What is best advised for: "meta NAME="keywords" CONTENT"?
Thanks as Always,
Jack

i would base the <title> on the number of words, rather than the number of characters. somewhere between 2 and 10 is alright, i reckon. but you should put in as many as is needed. stuffing it with extra words is usually a waste of time because even though you're covering all your bases, no one will want to click on it. if the title is tight, and focused on one particular subject, then people will likely click on it. it's a balancing act. do it on a page by page basis though - whatever reads best for that particular page.

i wouldn't get too het up about it anyway. there are many more important things that affect your ranking these days.
