Although Wordtracker's accuracy is based on metacrawler data it is (relatively speaking) an extremely good tool to appreciate keywords patterns of use.
Even when your ranked position is #1 there is no guarantees that click through will compare to that found in wordtracker?
Wordtracker results are based on keyword use but can not distinguish how that keyword was used.
e.g. - do you periodically check where you rank under a specific keyword/phrase, and how many others do this, how many use automated programs (like WebPosition) which can severely reduce the number of qualified keyword users.
But best way to use wordtracker, identify keyword usage that have very low competition (generally these also have low usage overall as well) but getting to the first page of result more often is more important.
e.g. - "guide to blue and green widgets" and "widgets in nova scotia canada"
Continue this process around your primary target keyword (in this case "widgets") and you will slowly see your primary keyword move up in ranked position 41, 36, 28, 21, 15, 9. Once on the first page it is far better to search out other primary keywords and repeat this process than to attempt the #1 ranked position.
I've used wordtracker (and others) for 3 years and it's the best on the market however, all in all tools are tools, I use my cruise control to assist me in driving my car, but I would never explicitly trust it to do the driving for me.
