Overusing Keywords - When To Stop?

Going for a keyword thread hat trick. :)

Let's say that I was targeting "x-ray powers" as my my keyphrase for a Super Power Clearinghouse who's flagship product is an X-Ray Super Power (2 for 1 on all optic blasts!).

How would I handle not overdoing the word "powers" on my front page if I also had "flying powers" and "SEO powers"?

This may not be the best of examples - but I'm sure you get where I'm coming from.

Like "sports cards" and mentioning a "sports helmets" category and a "sports jersey" category all on the same page.

how do I not overdo it when one word is integral to telling the use what we have, but also risky that it will be considered spam.

For Google, you can actually go pretty high. I actually have a 38% density for a single word on a home page and it still ranks in the twenties for that word...no penalty.

I wonder if that's associated with the fact that Google ignores META information in favor of it's PageRank technology.
