How much is KW overkill?

Is there such a thing as over researching keywords, and is it damaging

Ok here is my dilema! I feel as if Im always missing keywords. Everytime I start to research KW's , I dig and dig, and dig, tool after tool , high end paid keyword tools, free tools, google tools, yahoo tools, and then some more keyword tools and permutatators, and keyword wrappers, and plurals, and misplellings and, and , well you get the point.

When is it safe to stop? Really this is a real question. is there such a thing as keyword reasearch overkill? AKA beating a dead keyword list..

Please share your thoughts on this, is it necesarry to always use everty signle varaiation of keywords, ..and do the tools like wordtracker, or keycompete, really give us accurate #'s for these smaller volume keywords.?

I don't know if any one has the real answer to this, just opinions.

Most pros say the more the merrier and will run the list over a

a hundred and beyond. They will do misspelled, negative, plurals

etc,etc. I personally to somewhere between 10 and 20 and call it

good enough. Maybe I am lazy, but thats just me.
