I just started working on a new project and after doing an analysis on my major competitors, it appears that one of them uses the most commonly searched keyword as their anchor text.

Is it possible for me to also use this keyword as my site's anchor text too?
Any Help/opinion/suggestions will be appreciated..

Hi, olba, and welcome to WebmasterWorld. Yep, you can use whatever keywords in the anchor text you want. The best thing is to use keywords that acurately describe the page they are pointing to, and ones that are searched often. Sometimes, more specific phrases work better if the words are very competitive.

I think sometimes it does work. But don't write anchor text only for search engine.

Hi olba

I usually start out by drawing a site structure, once I have that down I find relevante internal links and define anchor text based upon relevance.
