Amazon.com keyword stuffing

SInce the new update it seems amazon.com supports keyword stuffing

I monitor a few keywords I'm interested in. I wondered today why I got a link to something like:

[amazon.com...]

(it works for any valid ISBN, take your favorite book)

After a few tries it seems the keyword stuffing does little effect on what is displayed. But I wonder why amazon would lower itself to allow such things to be done.

I noticed this on certain pages within Amazon, such as the internally-maintained "list" pages like the upcoming releases of new DVDs, etc. The first "directory" of the URL would be a plain-text version of the title, as you mentioned.

However, the link to the same product elsewhere (from the index page, or from the "customers also bought") had the traditional Amazon structure.
