This is my best interpretation of how to build a themed site. Is it on the right lines?

1.DIRECTORY AND FILE STRUCTURE:
Key phrases are targeted by putting dedicated pages in the right place e.g.
shoes.com/mens_shoes/mens_black_shoes.htm
Gives a key phrase of 'Mens black shoes'.

Same approach for: Other colours, Womens shoes etc

2.INTERNAL LINKS
- All black shoe pages link to each other and the index
Same for other colours.
- All mens shoe pages link to each other and the index
Same for mens & childrens.

3.INCOMING LINKS
Instead arranging links to shoes.com
Get pages that rate highly for 'a key phrase' to link to that page e.g. to mens_black_shoes.htm etc.

Sounds like you've been doing some reading. That looks pretty good to me, kapow. Just remember that content is king so make sure each page is really about what you've named it and all the tags reflect that including alt.

When you are looking for incoming links make sure they are an equally themed site with anchor text reflecting the themed phrase you want your page expressed with or known for.
