Where to get millions of keywords.

I am looking to create a database of all the keywords used to make searches for a project I'm working on and after speaking to the grand daddy of keyword tool's I was amazed to be quoted well over 50k for there entire database of searched terms. (over 430 million) Does anyone know how we can obtain these easier & cheaper, we have tried the adwords API for keyword collection but its really slow. Any info would be fantastic. Has anyone here dealt with the 'BIG keyword tool' company and purchased in this way I have mentioned? It seems obcence what they are asking?

I'll bump it up and supply some relatively useless comments. Please excuse me if your need for all the kw's is part of an academic exercise.

If you have appropriate content on your site, then the kw's will naturally occur in the text. If you try to load the site down with every kw that some tool pumps out, you might wind up being seen as spammy, which sure won't be good for the business plan. Honestly, you either have the goods in the content, or you don't.

Not only for what they're asking, but as part of the entire approach ;-)

There are many tools out there just try a search for keyword research on Google. Also you can try to find open log file reports. There is a wealth of keyword information in those.

This second one, entirely irrelevant, is because I just noticed that the last one was my 1500th post. A prize, or t-shirt, or something, would be nice. Of course, maybe I should just be happy that the other members of WW have put up with me for so long ;-)

Seriously, and back on topic,

Collecting and collating keywords involves a cost, and that cost can either be Time or Money. michaelbs, without any knowledge of your project and whether this will work, you might want to break down your keyword needs into smaller chunks and look at focusing your research as you go. That might reduce both the time and money needed to complete the task.

And get this - Michael joined the exact same day as me, but has 150 posts. God knows what I did with the extra 1350, but I doubt if they were worth archiving.

Thanks Woz! We know the project works with 2 million keywords and have capabilities to process upto 8 million keywords per 30 day cycle. But we are struggling collecting this many every 30 day cycle.
This is why we have been considering 'the BIG keyword' company. Any other ideas on harvesting would be very helpful? Anyone? Anyone? Michael 8-)

Establish a dummy search engine and log entered search terms. Of course it wont get much traffic unless you provide results <g>
