keywords in alt

hello everybody

i ask me the same.
if you use an image in a link do the alt keywords of such image have the same value for search engines than visible text?

example:

for a search engine the words "lemmons oranges" have the same value in <a href="url">lemmoms oranges</a>

that in <a href="url"><img src="image url" alt="lemmons oranges"></a>?

the only real important thing with alt tags is does it explain the image..

I would be surprised if alt tags didn't help with Google IMAGE searches at the very least.
It may not have as much weight as anchor text in a page URL, but I would bet it counts there too.

Make sure and spell Lemons properly of course. -Larry
