What techniques or tools you use to assess the exact competition for particular keyword?

Hi there,

The best way you might not like it is google's adword campaign. From there you can assess the best value of keywords the best competitive terms and the best turnover keywords. You might be interested in the common terms but go for the least popular but effective keywords to get your traffic from.

I'd say just search (use Google or another SE) for the keywords and see who is at the top. That would be the best way to gauge the competition IMHO.

another cool way to check out will be to check out the back links of top competitors and check out the text in the back links of these competitors and you can get a fair idea from there that what keywords are the most effective for your site.

Do a search for nichewatch. It gives lot of information but missing monthly search number.Have you tried it?
