How accurate are KW tools?

Am i correct in saying that when finding the most popular kw's on Google, Word Tracker results would be the most accurate and when finding the most popular kw's on yahoo, msn, etc. you can use the overture kw tool? any other suggestions would be appreciated.

i'd use a combination of all of them to be honest. what pepople search for on one of them usually would go for the others too, in my opinion.

WT appears to be the best guide, but it's only a guide to relative popularity. It can't give you anywhere close to real figures if you want traffic estimates.

Best way to get real numbers for forecasting is to run a short Adwords campaign.

I use #*$! and other tools, I use them only as a gauge for how I will build that page and sometime I may have a word I think is hot but when I use these tools I find better words that mean the samething with more traffic and I normally will build around that.

That's not 100% true. Your Adwords ads will not shown every time when somebody searchs for it - it varies from 20%-90%. So a short Adwords campaign is only an estimation.

Overture combines all forms of a word — singular and plural, stemmings (-ed, -ing), capitalizations, and match types — and returns only the singular version. This greatly increases the count for the singular form and gives a misleading idea of its popularity. Also, the words in each phrase are in alphabetical order rather than the way the searcher typed them in.
