The main key phrase which I hope will attract traffic to my site is 'red widget'. I am working on the premise that if the keyphrase is in my domain name then I have more chance of other websites including that phrase in incoming link text.
Unfortunately redwidget.com has been taken but
red-widget.com is still available. The main issue with red-widget.com is a) it's not as easy to remember and b) there is more chance of people typing in redwidget.com when trying to remember the site.
Another option is widgetred.com which describes the subject matter as adequately as redwidget.com, but how do the search engines treat the order of the words?
Will the SE treat the link text 'widget red' as an equal to 'red widget' when someone types in 'red widget' or is this going to be an uphill struggle?
If I want to be ranked highly for red widget should those words be in that order in the domain name?
Hope someone can help.
