keyworks limit in meta tag?

Is there any limit of keywords (or number of letters) that can be included in the
- TITLE
- META NAME="keywords"
- META NAME="Description"
of an html file?

There are character limits (include commas and spaces) and there is a limited amount of times that you can use a single word (ie. title=2 times, des=4 times, keywords=7 times)

Hello again, sorry I think that I didn't explained myself very well in the 1st post. Imagine we have:

<TITLE>word1 word2 ... wordN</title>
<meta name="keywords" content="keyword1, kw2, kw3, .... kwN, ">
<meta name="description" content="word1 word2 ... wordN">

Is there any limit of kw's and word's (or number of letters on them) that can be included in them?

First off, I must appologize for not explaining in terms you use. To answer your question again...

Yes, there are limits to the amount of words/letters that you can put there.
(character = letter,space, or comma) - (example = kw1, kw2, kw3, kw4. = 19 characters)

Each search engine shows a different amount of words/letters for the title and description. Google shows 60 characters in a IE browser window (including commas & spaces). So some people recommend only putting 60 characters into the title tag.

Yahoo and MSN are different.

The description tag also has a limit - Google shows the first 150 characters in the description tag.

Other search engine vary between 150 and 200.

Keywords also has a limit - Most people say to use 1000 characters or up to 45 words. Google does not use the keywords in the meta content.

To use your example:

<TITLE>word1 word2 ... wordN(allowed 60 characters or 9 words)</title>
<meta name="keywords" content="keyword1, kw2, kw3, .... kwN (allowed 1000 characters or 45 words)">
<meta name="description" content="word1 word2 ... wordN (allowed 150 - 200 characters or 25 words)">

In my opinion, you should add keywords in Meta Tag which are matched with context in the body text and related. Should not add or stuff unrelated keyword. The number of keywords are depending on context.

Great post, Coop99! I didn't know the exact numbers, I always just copy and paste 'em in a word doc and compare them to the SERPS, lol.

Are you saying Google ignores all meta content? Does it now pull the keywords from content only? Thanks
