I hope you all are fine and in your good health. Can you tell me what does "coding by hand" mean? Actually I am new in this web designing world and have no idea about the web designing terms.

Sometimes you don't need an excavator & your simple little shovel will give you a more desired & refined result ;)
Eg. Creating simple text ads that will be SSI included into tables of varying sizes & you wish certain text to be on certain lines, looking the same for multiple browsers even when they may render text a little differently, that would otherwise cause a visible difference if not deliberately broken with, for-instance, a shovel, in a BR tag :)
Wrapping etc. is nice, but doesn't always create 2 near identical pages,(or ads on pages) on different browsers and operating systems etc... Very important if you have some nice ads in desired sales format that have HIGH IMPACT & convert well, that they are visibly formatted the same for all surfers :) --[as much as physically possible]

I have no prejudice against the Wysiwyg users, nor programs, provided they produce clean code & I believe neither do any other handcoders in here that have mentioned that most Wysiwyg programs produce a lot of unnecessary junk in the code.
10-1 you have atleast some unnecessary divs etc. in your DW generated pages, especially if you have tables,(less DW has finally got it's act together with whatever version it's at now).

Although I have started to use some validators, because when you get complicated code, it's hard sometimes to see where the errors are.
But that's about it.
Its like reading - when you first start out its alot easier if someone else reads for you. But as the years go by you learn to read very well for yourself and then you are glad you took the time to learn.
(By the way, that is a good comparison between having a WYSIWYG editor such as DreamWeaver or FrontPage do the code for you VS learning to code for yourself)
Its gotten to the point where I can look at the HTML and CSS for a site and visualize pretty much how it will look in a browser.
That's a new skill. Sometimes I wonder what kind of mental skills or visualiations or other tricks, higher level designer/developers have that I don't have.
