Why I get a 404 code without a valid reason?

After renaming a page I got sometimes a 404 message

I read in one of these forums that google is going to ban pages with the word "Link".

I renamed a page called "useful_links" with another name and so on...
I use dreamweaver.

I have now a URL called like useful_connections.html

Everything is fine, but sometimes when returning to the home page:

[mydominion.com...]

and from that URL (on my browser IE 5.5) clicking on the useful_connections.html, I get a 404 message.

Clicking on "refresh" I get the page!

I tried to clear the IE cache, the temporary files: no way! First I get the 404 and refreshing I get the page.

With Netscape 4.7 no problem.

From other computers everything is fine.

How can i eliminate this from my computer?

At first read, I thought this had to be a cache problem, but now I see it's a lot stranger than that. I'd like to clarify what you're seeing:

On the first click you get a 404 error. Then, with the 404 message still on the screen, and the URL still in the location window, you just click on REFRESH and that displays the right page?

There is a bug in Internet Explorer version 5.5 which is fixed by Service Pack 1. You should install this if using IE5.5.

this info was taken from the f2s website faq file.

Exactly!

Thank you for the information about the bug! i will download the Service Pack1.

This is a terrible bug when you have to update your pages!

Hi mack!

It doesn't work! it is not a "cache" matter: it is really a I.E. bug.

Clicking on "refresh" (or reload) it works fine.
