Not sure where this should be so feel free to move it to the appropriate area. I had just completed a coming soon page, uploaded it. During the upload, two images appeared in the ftp directory. or.jpg and es.jpg. I do not have those files nor did I instruct the ftp program to upload those files. I went into the file manager of the webserver and they were not there. Anyone experience this? Running virus scans now.

I could not delete them via ftp and after searching my entire computer, I do not have either file on there.

if you can't delete them with your ftp client then the ftp user doesn't own them or have delete permission for them. who does own them can you see (it will be a number more than likely - which then relates to a user, including root or apache etc)?
if you have shared or managed hosting, maybe ask the host first.
what are the images anyway?

I have no idea. All I can see is the name. There is no date, no size, no permissions. I'm thinking of trying another ftp program and see if its limited to this one

Directory info doesn't list them. Could the server be under attack?

Just speculating ... New site? New server?

These look like language abbreviations ... could this be located in Spanish or Oriya areas (either server, or the language of the site)?

Which operating system and which ftp/sftp/ftps daemon on the server is used? Some FTP daemons use temporary file names for newly uploaded files and only rename them to the actual filename when the whole file content has been transferred. In some instances, the attributes of the temporary files are set in such a way that they cannot be seen or accessed by other applications.

In the course of four posts (I counted) you have not yet given the single most crucial piece of information: Is it your own server or is it shared hosting? If the latter, have you asked your host? All kinds of things can materialize in the userspace for a new site.

This is a shared host. No Spanish language, site is in English. A new site, yes, no server no. Server is using linux. In all my years, I've never seen this before. I tried another ftp program and the two mystery items were not there. I did ask the host, they couldn't see the files either. Very strange.

Narrows it down to your application of choice?

This is curious, of course, but does not sound critical ... or even nefarious since there is nothing that can be seen, other than a filename.ext (no details, no create or mod dates, or cmod?).
