I need your suggestions. Thanks in advance.
I am bit confused when clients approach me for designing a website for them. What type of developing is good? Wordpress or our own code development?

People use WordPress when they don't know how to make their own site. Others write their own code.

Obligatory rude question: If you're a professional website designer, why are you asking us? Don't you already have a preference?
Plenty of professionals use big-name CMS (WP, Drupal, Joomla). Plenty of others roll their own. Pros and cons each way. It's the designer's decision: Options a, b and c are client's choice; options d and e are non-negotiable.

Sometimes people who know how to code use Wordpress when it makes sense to. I can create a site from scratch but prefer Wordpress.
I'm guessing OP has a business that does not specialize in web design, right?
