table alignment

help with fixing this code

Hi... I am very new to this and was hoping if someone can help me out with this code. It displays fine with firefox but ie and chrome the tables and buttons do not align.
I will attach the code and was hoping someone can debug it for me. I would be grateful.

Well, it's not really OT. The whole code is such a formless mess, I had to home in on something. The second thing to catch my eye was the assorted "class = blahblah" declarations without any corresponding CSS to see what-if-anything the class does. This makes diagnostics a little bit tricky.

All those "code by..." lines imply that you're cutting-and-pasting someone else's code without really understanding what it does. Or what it's meant to do, which is not always the same thing. The obvious place to ask is the person who made the code in the first place, or the site where you found it. There's always some explanatory stuff.

While I see many things that I would recommend changing how this entire page is structured and coded, I'll try to just give you a small fix to work with what you have.

I _do_ see different layouts in FF and IE, so you could add some CSS like so:

Remove the comment on the first line. It puts IE into quirks mode where you don't want to be.

Change this: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
to this: <html lang=en>

That's an assumption, ... the code has every indication of being generated, so it should be well-formed (although with the crap in there ...), and could easily be served as application/xhtml+xml with a few lines in a .htaccess file.

Anyway the code generator (editor) you use: I'd suggest to learn it better or ditch it if this is the best it can do.

But an educated guess. Based on the markup, I'd bet it's copy/pasted and the OP doesn't know the difference between writing XHTML and serving it, well-formed or not.
