From Reuters [reuters.com]

Pre-installed with Windows 7?

I would of thought Firefox would of been the first to get bundled.

Sony trails PC giants like Hewlett-Packard Company and Dell Inc, and did not rank among the top five PC vendors by worldwide shipments in the second quarter, according to research firm IDC.

That surprised me, at least at first. However, Sony users may be more influential and so Google has first sealed the deal by going after opinion leaders - a very "Tipping Point" type of strategy.

News of Sony's deal with Google Chrome [ft.com] was originally published by Financial Times, with these interesting quotes:

Google executives express frustration at what they consider a lack of interest among internet users about browsers. "Awareness is shockingly low" given how much people rely on browsers, said Mr Rakowski [of Google]...

That points to the company's wider objectives with Chrome, to prevent Microsoft’s dominance from holding back development or enabling the software giant to restrict access to Google’s services.

"It’s not so important everyone uses Google Chrome, it's more important browser technology evolves as fast as it can," said Mr Rakowski.
