Hi all,

I have seen some sites where I visit them it shows my current location seamlessly integrated into the text of the webpage. You know like on those fake google cash blogs that say mrs x from "city name" has made $5000 a month!

Anyway can someone please point me in the right direction on how to set that up on my site. I want it to display the city location of all the visitors and populate that into my page.

I tried googling for an answer honestly, but i was having trouble coming up with a search string that could get me results I was looking for.

Thanks!

geotargeting is the keyword you look for :)

There are two options available to you I believe.

One is the costly but rather accurate GEoIp service but, that can cost a lot"

The other is a more openly maintained database which may well not be as accurate but is free!

I wish I could remember where they were on google but, this post is mostly to let you know that a free service does exit on the net... somewhere.

Is GeoIP the plug-in in programs like Awestats? Maybe this could work if you had Awestats installed?

A quick look at a site for a GeoIP service claims 83% accuracy at city level (25 mile radius) in the USA. That is high by international standards.
