Images broken in IE6. Fine in all other browsers

I have some images on a site which appear fine in all browsers except IE6

A site I am working on has an image uploader which creates 3 different sized versions of an image and displays them in various sections of the site.

There is an issue with IE6 though where it is displaying the red x where the images should be. Every other browser is rendering these images without issue. There are other images on the site which have been uploaded using the uploader which are fine.

I have taken the processed images from the server and output them again in Photoshop and re-uploaded them but to no avail. They are still showing as Red Xs.

Is this a known or common bug? What is the cause? Are there any work arounds?
