I don't know why people creiticised me for having 15 swfs on a page. My page is one where a person has to guess the name of a classical composer, and then after doing so chicks on a flash button to hear the answer. So it's easy to have 15 of these on a page. Someone said I should just link to the mp3 directly but this brings up the windows player. With the flash method just the sound is heard.

And yes, the new beta 10 flashplyer will play more than 15 such sounds on a page. I am just waiting for it to be out of beta...not recommnding it like soemone said.

I am a novice using flash. What is wrong with using the buttons like I mentioned....and what is wrong with mentioning that the new beta 10 version allows more than 15 swf buttons on a page?

I don't mind criiticism. I want to learn. If there is a better way of diong this besides using flah buttons made with hootech's mp3 to swf (a great program), please tell me.

Thanks

Chukka John

I'll bet the criticism is from people who don't realize you are just using swf files to play sound when the user clicks - they think your page has 15 different movies going at one time.

It might be worth mentioning that it will only bring up windows player if the user has that defined as the plug-in/default player set for that browser.

I promise you MAC users are not getting windows player pop up nor are Linux users, and even some Windows users will have a different default player.

You might consider making your sound files into .flv files then just have one swf that is the player and have it request the .flv files as required.
