They said they formated, but she believes they did not, because after they "fixed" it she could no longer log in to the bankaccount. She tried the computer (laptop) both at home and in the office, (In the office the other computers can log in). She uses internet explorer, so I installed firefox and it is just the same, she can open the https page where you log in but when she enters user and password the page ever load. There is just a blank page. In i.e after minutes ready comes up showing the blank page and in firefox it ever stops to load.
Which can be the problem?
I'd suggest calling the bank's tech support, they should at least know their system and be able to eliminate the possibility that the error is on their side.
When you access the banks pages, security is run in Java programs, which make the server even safer, and therefore you must have all the options for java enabled in your browser.
As you can see they say nothing about javamachine, and I installed firefox and those options are enabled when you install it. So that can not be the reason either.
- Tech formatted your HD. Probably installed a "best-guess" of all programs (and didn't think you'd need Java.)
- Bank says you need Java to access the login.
- Page just hangs and goes white on attempted login
The page hang is kind of indicative that Java is not installed. The browser is waiting for a response from something that isn't there, and there's no error handling for it. The same thing will happen if you have a Flash object on the page, but the actual Flash object is not there, or have a typo in the path to it (don't ask how I know . . . .)
Note that Java and Javascript are two different things. Javascript is an engine directly within the browser to execute javascript code embedded in the web page. Java is a compiled small application (hence, applet) that is included in a page, much like Flash. For it to work, the client must have Java installed, which is a separate issue from browser settings.
You understand that you need to install the Flash plug-in to see pages with Flash, right? Same deal with Java: it's an external program with a browser plug-in.
Your browser settings may say Java is enabled/allowed, but if Java is not installed, it won't do anything. Javascript, on the other hand, IS present in the browser and can be turned on or off with the settings, no download is required.
Go to [java.com,...] install Java, and try it again. You may need to restart the computer after DL/install.
