Table display issues in IE 6

lost formatting in IE

Before I begin, I am aware of the fact that I shouldn't even be using tables anymore and that I should bite the rubber bullet and just use CSS. I promise I am learning, but I have a long way to go before I am confident enough to build my site from the ground up with it.

I'm a little perplexed...The table was displaying and operating just fine in IE when I first uploaded the site 2 days ago. I went in and added some more content which included more table cells and now it is not displaying correctly. It looks like all the formatting of the table was lost...cell size, bg color of the table cells, etc.

After browsing forums for the answer, I tried a few of the remedies such as adding a space to an empty cell(I added a period the same color as the the table bg) but it hasn't helped. Any suggestions?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, xenira.

Have you validated your code first?

Okay, I'm attempting to validate my code. I've never done this before, so some of it doesn't make any sense, such as I'll have to read up on this, as well.

I'm just hoping to get this sorted out quickly since the page is live and all scrambled in IE.

Thanks!
