Our bookmark referral traffic [ and direct entry ] has just dropped through the floor at the same time we launched new sites with a new code base [ .NET from Perl ]
Traffic from SE's is stable. Any ideas ?

If it coincides with a technical change then it's likely a technical problem - either with the way you're tracking this number or the way the site is set up. If, for instance, your homepage had a javascript redirect on it, this could make blank referrers impossible, since the referrer would be the page with the redirect on it. The same can happen if you use javascript-based tracking and have omitted it from any pages.
The other strategy would be a bit of data mining - what did the visitors do on the site previously, where did they enter the site etc.
