The Netscape browser has finally been put to rest. After the final build (version 9.0.0.6), there will be no more. Users will be encouraged to switch browsers via a pop-up. Support will cease for Netscape.

For my part, I mostly enjoyed using the browser. However, when it had problems it was the most aggravating part of my day.

...and yet again I find that I'm behind the ball on the latest news... alas.

Who knew it was even still around? I think NN8 was the last I tried. And it came with two emulation modes - Firefox and IE, whatever you had installed. So who needed NN?

NN3 was a standard in its day, in that particular window or period. NN4 has some interesting features, apart from layers and event handling. But M$ did it in with 5.5, which then became the standard. Then M$ decided to go the 'platform' route, and Firefox 1.5 crept in. (I'd say, Opera, but no one uses Opera - yet).
